Chateau de Courtomer is an exquisite 18th-century country house, set in the midst of its own parklands, fields, and pastures in bucolic Normandy. The current owners have embellished this grand monument of the Ancien Régime with 21st-century standards of comfort and convenience—without yielding an iota of the chateau’s elegance and charm.
Complete with three fully-equipped conference rooms, a business center, and wifi throughout the château and grounds, the chateau de Courtomer is ideally suited to host your gatherings of clients and colleagues. And it also welcomes your more intimate reunions of family and friends. Although the chateau de Courtomer was built as a showplace to celebrate the prestige and power of the marquisate of Courtomer, it was also a family seat…a home with a history. Successive generations of the Saint-Simon family were born here, married, brought up children, and are buried in the family chapels adjoining the village cemetery. They took part in France’s national and literary heritage, serving her kings and entertaining her men of letters.
You and your guests will also find the chateau de Courtomer a congenial place to work or play. Start your day with a walk or a jog through the chateau’s 20 hectares of park and woodlands (where you may surprise deer grazing or admire the chateau’s herd of registered Limousine cattle) …and breakfast in the sun of the “cour d’honneur”. After a full day of conferences or meetings, or simply of exploring the region’s rich heritage, come in to a cheerful fire in the library…a cocktail in the cozy “fumoir” (an 18th-century gentleman’s den)…an intimate dinner in the informal dining room (comfortably seating up to 10) or a grand dinner in the great dining hall....play a game of billiards--or the piano in the grand salon.
You and your guests will enjoy the traditional amenities of a grand French chateau —with the added bonus of luxurious en-suite bathrooms and a modern kitchen. In short…our chateau will be your home and business or leisure base in one of the most charming and historically important regions of France. Only 160 kilometers from Paris, well-served by auto routes and train, the chateau de Courtomer is ideally suited to host you and your family and friends, from selective business functions to intimate gatherings of family and friends. The chateau is in a gorgeous country setting. If you go there, be sure to take a stroll into the nearby village to savour fresh-baked croissants and fabulous cider, crafted using traditional methods and locally grown produce. -Luisa Woods, Buenos Aires Our group of international publishers found Courtomer the perfect venue for our annual retreat. It's close enough to Paris for all of us to arrive easily. The rooms are comfortable, WIFI accessible, and the grounds are secluded and quite beautiful. -Laura Davis, Agora Inc. Our stay at the Chateau was not just a Birthday Celebration, it was an experience that none of our family will ever forget. It is truly a wonderful place and somewhere we would very much like to return to in the future. We have all fallen in love with the history and elegance of Chateau de Courtomer. -Caroline Burnard-Epstein, Brighton, U.K. I had such a wonderful time staying at Chateau de Courtomer in France. I felt like I was living during the time when the Chateau was a part of France's rich history. The little town of Courtomer has an open air market which we visited quite often. Not only that, there are little French towns within driving distance of the Chateau where you can sit for a drink at the out door cafes. I enjoyed the evening walks around the grounds of the Chateau. It was a once in a life time experience. Walter Buranen Chateau Courtomer combines the charm and grace of the French countryside with the grandeur of living like eighteenth century royalty. History has been preserved throughout every room with modern conveniences having been seamlessly and unobtrusively blended. My husband and I stayed at the chateau in June. I would highly recommend the chateau to anyone looking for "douceur de vivre" the sweet life, the way France was meant to be." -Gail and Shawn Alcarese Getting to the chateau posed no problem. We rented a car in Paris and drove to Courtomer. The location of the chateau is perfect as it provides the opportunity to do day trips to surrounding French towns such as LeMans, Caen...even driving to the beaches of Normandy. The little village of Courtomer is within walking distance making it convenient to pick up extra groceries, wine and other items. I highly recommend Chateau de Courtomer. We're already talking about a return visit. -Sandy Franks
