| Chateau de Courtomer is an exquisite 18th-century country house, set in the midst of its own parklands, fields, and pastures. The current owners have embellished this grand relic of another age with 21st-century standards of comfort and convenience—without yielding an iota of the chateau’s elegance and charm. You’ll feel at home here…you’ll come in after a walk along the country lanes or a day of touring to a cheerful fire (laid by the chateau’s guardian, Monsieur Xavier) in the library and a hot pot of tea (yes, tea is an afternoon tradition in France, though it may be called goûter!)…play the piano…read (try a leather-bound tome of Bossuet’s sermons --quite lively, actually!—from the chateau’s collection) or play a board game after dinner…or take a post-prandial stroll around the grounds and admire the herd of registered Limousine cattle. You can plan your day from our collection of travel literature while you breakfast in the sun in the “cour d’honneur…and end it taking a luxurious hot bath in your modern en suite bathroom. You can dine in the great hall– well-suited to large dinner parties—or in the more intimate dining room (comfortably seating up to 10 friends or family)…and entertain your friends and family in the elegant grand salon. In short…our chateau will be your home and base in one of the most charming and historically important regions of France. Only 160 kilometers from Paris, well-served by auto routes and train, the chateau de Courtomer is ideally suited to host you and your family and friends, from selective business functions to intimate wedding parties and family reunions. The chateau is available as a self-catered venue. Full-information packages can be provided to help with your planning and choices of transportation, places to visit, restaurants, and caterers. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your enquiries or to reserve your stay at Chateau de Courtomer. The accommodations were lovely. Well equipped and comfortable with a fantastic view over the grounds. The chateau is in a gorgeous country setting. If you go there, be sure to take a stroll into the nearby village to savour fresh-baked croissants and fabulous cider, crafted using traditional methods and locally grown produce. -Luisa Woods, Buenos Aires |
