Weddings’ Frequently Asked

What does an average wedding at the Chateau cost?

It depends on the number of guests and the style of the event you are planning. We do not have access to the budgets of our clients, so we have no idea what they have spent. We just know that the final results are stunning!

Budgeting is key to a stress free event so please spend some time preparing yours. Our vendors will be happy to prepare quotes but remember that a quote needs to be based on an accurate brief for it to be useful for budgeting purposes. Spend some time preparing the brief for each supplier, in this way your quotes will be more precise.

What should I do to prepare for a site visit?

Site visits are important and if you are preparing a destination wedding you  certainly need to plan the most effective use of your time. The more information we have regarding what you are looking for and the timetable of your event, the more helpful we can be. Prior to your site visit please make sure that you have received a quote from us, understand our pricing structure and have a draft timetable of your wedding.

Do you provide wedding planning services?

We don’t but we have a list of planners that work locally and who know the Château.

Are we tied to any supplier, if we book accommodation with you?

No, not at all, you are free to use the suppliers of your choice. We have a list of suppliers that have worked at the Château but you are free to use who ever you choose. Weddings are so personal that we like to make sure that our clients can curate the wedding they dream of using the suppliers that they like and trust!

Can we organise deliveries prior to our arrival?

Deliveries should be timed to coincide with your letting period. If this is impossible we will try and accommodate deliveries but you will need to liaise with Heather.

Can we check in earlier/ check out later?

Under certain circumstances this service is possible, please check at the time of booking for possibility and cost. Please note that this service must be agreed at the time that you confirm your reservation.

Do you have a party area where we can dance and provide bar facilities?

The Orangerie is ideal for this it is and is available to rent, in  addition to the Château.  It is perfect for partying after the formal proceedings have concluded. It is a short stroll from the main Château and  so late night revelers won’t disturb guests who prefer to retire early! It also has a full screen so you can project videos, photos or films.

Do you have a curfew?

We don’t have a curfew and most of our weddings carry on till dawn !

Do you allow fireworks?

As we have livestock on the estate we don’t allow fireworks.

Do you have a church on site?

We don’t have a church on site but there is a church in the village. However if you are planning on getting married in France please check the laws relating to this. It can make things complicated for you- unless you are French.

What dining areas are available?

The Château offers a wide range of areas for dining, from formal to alfresco. But remember that if you are thinking of dining outside you may also want to consider what to do in the event of inclement weather. We always advise our clients to have a Plan B!

What is the best time of the year for an outside wedding?

July, August and early September tend to be the best months but they are also our busiest so book well ahead especially if you have specific weekends in mind. Also be aware that this is the peak season for caterers so you need to check that the caterer of your choice is free too.

Site visits for suppliers…

If your caterer, tent supplier, lighting crew or DJ haven't worked at the Chateau before they may want to do a site visit. We recommend that all caterers do as we have strict rules regarding; electrical hitch ups (they need to cook on gas or use a generator),  rubbish disposal and deliveries on and off site. We will explain the rules to them when they visit and they will be confirmed in writing.

Also bear in  mind that the Orangerie has no catering facilities and so your caterers will need to plan for a catering tent, in addition to the normal equipment. Please ensure that either you or your planner are on site to co-ordinate suppliers site visits.

How long does it take to plan a destination wedding?

In our experience the minimum is 18 months with some of clients preferring lead times of two years.

Do you have a list of trusted suppliers that have worked at the Château?

We do and we are happy to share this with you from the moment that you start to consider the Chateau as your venue. Just ask us for our Vendors list.
